Primary

So today was our first day in Primary. We think it went pretty well. Last week we sat in with the other teachers and realized the kids don't act how we thought 8 year olds act in church. So earlier this week I looked at the lesson a little and I was kind of excited to see that the lesson was on how to act during church. Obviously 8 year olds already know how to act, but do they? Not half of our class. We think we did a good job with the lesson, and we came up with some creative ideas and we learned a couple things we'll have to remember for next week. For example, there's a kid that we think as long as he's quiet, we're just going to have to let him do whatever he wants. Which went totally against our lesson on being reverent doesn't just mean being quiet. In contrast, his twin brother is the teacher's dream who sits quietly and answers all of the questions and even adds more to the answer. We learned one of the boys is the instigator for everything and we'll have to separate him. There's another boy who raises his hand, goes oooo oooo oooo, and then when you call on him he says something totally random or he'll say um I forgot. There's another boy who really likes to participate, and a girl who you can tell she thinks all the boys in her class are retarded. So 5 boys and 1 girl. We're glad we are primary teachers. We can already tell we're going to learn a lot. And so far, I think our own kids better be good because Clint and I are both pretty tough. It's definately interesting being back in Primary .

FYI

There hasn't been too much going on here lately. Buuut Clint and I were called to be Primary Teachers. We haven't started yet, but we will be teaching the 7 turning 8 year olds. Which means we'll have a lot of baptisms to go to, but that's ok. We are pretty excited about it. I also got a part time job working for Hallmark and am in charge of the cards at Walmart. Clint has become a par golfer, and I'm still getting better. So that's about it. We have such exciting lives.

The big 2-6!

Clint turned 26 on Wednesday! For his birthday he got new golf clubs, and I got him a net to hit balls into. We also got Coldstone cupcakes that were delicious and went golfing. Here are just a few pictures...

Rachel's wedding

Last weekend Clint and I went to my little sister Rachel's wedding. She and her husband, Steven, were married for time and all eternity in the Nauvoo Temple. It was a lot of fun and we're glad we could be there.

We also had the chance to take a tour of Miller Park while we were in Milwaukee.

And we also celebrated Mya's 5th birthday. Clint and I gave her Pretty Pretty Princess, a game Emily and I loved when we were younger. Dylan said he wanted to play because "Crowns, earrings, and rings are cool" He won both games, which could explain that crazy smile.

Another anniversary

Clint and I celebrated our 2nd Anniversary Monday. It's been a great two years. On our drive back home Clint showed me he can wiggle his ears. I was kind of surprised after knowing each other for over 3 years that I didn't know that, but really when does that ever come up? I don't even remember how it came up then. I think I was asking him when we have kids, whose eyes do we think they'll have, or their ears and I think that's when he wiggled them. We have a lot of time to talk about anything and everything on our road trips.

We decided to take the little drive to Yellowstone and loop around to Jackson and stay the night and then back for our anniversary. Yellowstone was cool, I've never been there before. I really wanted to see some bears but we weren't so lucky, but we did see these really big deer that I don't think I've ever seen before, I don't remember what they're called, and also a few buffalo. The hot pot things and Old Faithful was really cool though. Can you tell we didn't look at any of the signs based on my descriptions?

You'll have to tilt your head. Old Faithful goes off every 90 minutes give or take ten minutes they say. We got there just in time to get a good spot and only had to wait ten or fifteen minutes. There were a ton of people waiting there. While we were walking away we heard this older man say, I waited my whole life for that little piddly thing? haha, that was kind of funny, kind of sad.

After Yellowstone we drove to Jackson where we stayed the night in a really nice little cabin. I think it was called The Rustic Inn. We went to dinner at the delicious Gun Barrel Steakhouse.

It's good to be back. I've been busy unpacking and washing everything that was in storage and also everything we brought because it smelled like smoke. I won't miss those apartments. I've been going thru everything too and we have a huge pile of stuff to give away. It's funny how much I decided I didn't need only 5 months after I went thru everything. Clint is back into his golfing kick and I think has gone every day except for Wednesday. Clint and I bought season passes for Targhee to go snowboarding this winter. We're pretty excited for that.

Guess who's back, back again.

Last weekend Clint and I decided to call it a summer and not stay for the extended season. It took us two days to drive but it seemed like forever!!! I figured out there was about a four hour stretch in Wyoming and Nebraska that was exactly the same I took a few weeks ago with Janna and Brian. Clint and I stopped in Independence, MO to look at the Community of Christ temple, and to our surprise the LDS visitors center was open on Sunday. So we went in and it is so nice. We didn't get to go to any of the other sites, so we'll have to do that another time. So we'll be here until next summer when Clint sells somewhere else again. We usually find that out in early January.

Here are a few pictures from the visitors center.

The church had updated the visitors center a few years ago. I thought this was pretty cool, you touch the picture of one of the apostles and then you had the choice to listen to their latest talk, or read a message, or read more about them. Clint is pointing to Ecuador, where he served his mission. They had all the different Books of Mormon in the different languages with another interactive message.

In this room we learned a little about W.W. Phelps and the newspapers he published and the hymns he later wrote and published with Emma Smith. A neat fact we learned was, see on the right side of the picture they have the cases where they keep all the different letters? The "uppercase" letters come from the upper case, and the "lowercase" letters are kept in the lower case. Simple enough.

They said on average 9 families lived in a small cabin. This was another cool part there. They dimmed the lights and we sat in the cabin, and they would play testimonies of people who lived in Independence and how it was living with so much persecution. If you can see on the left side of the picture, there's the window with flowers. That was a flat screen tv that would flash different backgrounds. You know so it looked like you're really looking outside.

The Community of Christ Temple. The "ice cream cone" as Clint would describe it.

Husbands. Can't live with them, can't live without them.

Not exactly blog worthy, but whatev.

So Clint went to the store and bought 2 gallons of milk and 2 boxes of cereal. He came home and I was like, Why did you get organic milk? And he said, Oh I didn't notice. So I got out the reciept and it was $6.50 a gallon! Even if he would've noticed it was organic, I'm not sure Clint would know that milk doesn't cost $6.50. So after he had left for the day I called Kroger and asked if I could return the milk and they said yes. I couldn't decide if I thought it was funny, embarrassing, or just life to go return something to the grocery store. If he would've bought one gallon I would've probably decided it wasn't worth it to walk over to the store, but since he bought two and I'm not doing anything today I went. So I was at the counter and told the guy my husband bought these and I'd rather just have the regular cheaper milk. So he said no problem and I walked and got two regular milks. When I got back the guy said, And he didn't even use his Kroger card, the cereal he bought is half off! So I gave him my card and he gave me more money back from the cereals too. So even though my forearms are burning from bringing 2 gallons there and back I feel good because I came back with $11.83, saving us $11.38. Which wouldn't have broken the bank or whatever that phrase is, but it is of course about enough for 4 gallons of regular milk for the future.
I guess that's what I get for having him go get milk in the first place when I'm too big of a brat to drink the milk that was there before I left for my 10 day trip.
